I was incredibly blessed tonight by two good friends, R and A, who trekked down to my place in Renton, in order to help me do some early packing. I still don't know exactly when I will be moving. Our lease ends either the end of this month or 8/15. It is a bit flexible and depends on when we find a new place! We have one application pending at the moment for a place we really want! Since both the roomie and I are incredibly busy with work and our weekends consumed by bridesmaids duties for the next two weekends, my friends came tonight to help me get a head start. Thanks girls!
I must say though, moving is a hobby of mine. Last year alone I moved five times! Seattle-DC (twice)-Haiti-Tacoma-West Seattle-Renton. I moved at least once a year while in college, sometimes twice when I studied abroad or did internships. As a kid growing up, we would move on average, every 3 years. That does not include moves within the same city. For example, in Wichita, we lived in 3 different houses. My family tends to tell time by which house we lived in. A conversation may go like this:
--"When did Kyle crack his head and need to get stitches?"
--"I think we lived on Davis Street,"
--"Are you sure? I thought it was Volutia Street?"
--"Oh, you're right. That was after the Victorian house with the blood stain."
Hopefully, this next move will be my last for at least 3 years. Even if I do internships that take me away from Seattle, I don't want to have to move, perhaps just sublet.
However, since moving is a hobby, I tend to be pretty good at it. While I doubt I will miss it, it does require me to remain a minimalist in my possessions. We'll see if that trait holds even when I am not permanently moving!
