Awkward Encounter

So I was a bridesmaid yesterday at a very posh wedding location. In fact, this site hosted four weddings on the same day. "My" wedding was the fourth of the day and occurred in the outside tent. Another wedding coincided inside in the ballroom and there was some contact with wedding participants of the other wedding. For example, when we wanted to go to the bathroom, we had to go inside and somewhat pass the other wedding occurring inside. At one point, L. (my current roommate, an important fact in the upcoming conversation) did indeed have to use the restroom. Ok, enough for context, now for the interaction!

[Inside the bathroom] L: Erin! Did you see him? That guy right outside the door is M., the guy who owns the Greenwood house and rejected us!
Me: No way! Are you sure? I didn't see him. Are you really sure it's the guy who rejected us for being too poor?
L: Yes!

As we leave the bathroom we make eye contact with this very guy and sure enough it is him!

Me & L: Hi! How are you?
M: Um, hi! What are you doing here?
Me: Oh, I am in a wedding.
M: Oh, well how are you doing......blah blah blah insert small talk.....so how is the house hunt going?
Me: It's still going.
M: Really?
Me: Yeah, you know we keep getting rejected because people think we are too poor. But I am sure something will work out!

M now looks incredibly uncomfortable and awkwardly says: Well, I really do wish you all the best.
Me & L: Yeah, have a great night!

L. and I walk away and then die of laughter as it was apparent that this guy felt so awkward he wanted to disappear. Apparently he wasn't expecting these "poor" girls to show up at a posh place or have "rich" connections. ha!
