Franklin Covey
It is amazing to me to think that just a week ago I was totally unfamiliar with the phenomenon of the Franklin Covey planner and lifestyle. I have since been generously provided with one. While grateful, I think I need to approach it cautiously.I am a natural planner. I have been told that as a little girl I would create "schedules" for fun. While I learned to be much more flexible and spontaneous (in fact, some friends say I am one of the most spontaneous people they know!) I am still innately a planner. To procrastinate, I would rather "plan" for future things rather than deal with the here and now.So when it comes to scheduling every little minute of my life, I shy away. I predict it would be worse to finalize all my activities, or even non-activities, in such a way. For example, if I schedule something between 3-4 and then something else between 4:45-6, I predict that I would see a whole 45 minutes of free time and attempt to schedule something in there! I can only imagine the overbooking I would inflict upon myself. As it is, I already often try to do too many things at once, and while it may seem to be completely illogical, I think having a more abstract idea of when I will actually DO things will present less temptation to actually triple book myself. I'm not very good at gaging how much time things usually do require. To sum it up, for me and my own temperament, in an effort to prevent overscheduling, I need to avoid too much scheduling in the first place! I opt for looser timeframes.
