Gipsy Kings

Fabulous time outside at a winery. Wine, cheese, bread, flower in my hair, Spanish and of course salsa dancing!

Towards the end of the night, a woman behind me joined me and L. dancing and admitted she was simply copying me as I had great moves. I think it is not so much great moves as much as little inhibition!

8/8/08

On my way from one job to another, I was listening to KEXP on the radio. At approximately 4:51 pm on 8/8/08, the Dj played a song by Brenda George called "What You See Is What You're Gonna Get." For some reason, it totally caught my attention and I was bopping along with it making up words at first, but then learning from the repetition quickly. In this day and age, I felt quite confident that I could easily find the song somewhere on the internet and quickly include it in my itunes library. I mean, I even learned that this was a hit single back in 1968! But no such luck. Apparently the itunes library isn't dated back to 1968 one hit wonders. Even a google search did not turn up a single mp3. Man! I didn't think that could happen anymore!

On another note, I am going camping tomorrow. Yay! Heading over to the Olympic National Forest to go soak away in some natural hot springs. When I return I expect to be relaxed and maybe smelling a bit like sulfur.

Oh, and on another note. My car was hit while parked. My back is smashed and I can't even open my trunk. There was a note left and the number worked for a few days. The girl called me back once and promised to talk to my insurance to give them all the info. But she never did and now her number has been disconnected!! So I'm stuck with a UIM deductible! Definitely something to soak away in a hot spring.........i mean seriously, why even leave a note if you're gonna turn out to be a biatch?

Lessons please?

Can I please play accordion like this? I would like to be able to afford a handful of lessons so that I can have a strong foundation (or at least no really bad habits) and then I am sure I can figure the rest out. My current accordion, which I love, may prove to be a bit too big (yes even for me!) and perhaps in relative poor condition. Hm, what to do about that......

I want one of these....

A Lee Oskar harmonica. Ok, actually I want a couple of these--one in every key available. I have been playing harmonicas for a little over a year now. I just got it in my head one day that I wanted to play and went out and bought a case of cheapo plastic harmonicas--one in every key for about $25 total. I have paid my dues on those and some are already starting to wear out. Now that I know that I do really enjoy playing harmonica and would like to improve, I think it is worth investing in some good ones that will sound better too.

I have incorporated the harmonica on the days that I play with a music team for church. Not only do I have a blast, but I will have people tell me how much they loved it! My favorite though was when a little old lady literally chased me down to tell me how thrilled she was to hear a harmonica and played by a woman nonetheless!

I will be taking my harmonicas with me to Africa and will likely leave them behind with someone. I hope to have at least one nice harmonica before then so I don't have to go cold turkey.
