Eating and Sewing

Last week the entire group enjoyed an Eritrean meal at a fun restaurant. As typical large group pictures go, no matter how many pictures we took, there was a blink or something else in every single one!

A group of us, led by our Kenyan program coordinator (who is amazing and fondly called Papa John by a lot of people in the group!), visited a tailor shop. It was like a shopping center complex but all tailor vendors! After choosing patterns from books (consisting of photo albums to Talbot catalogs), we went upstairs to select the fabric. This picture is just a glimpse of the many choices. The stalls seemed endless. I wandered around for a long time and finally found "katinge" material for my pattern selection.

We were all measured and will pick up everything next week. We'll see how things fit! Some people ordered full suits because it is so ridiculously affordable. But I was a bit skeptical and want to see how they turn out first before I sign up for that! If they turn out well, I can guarantee I will be making a trip back.
