Seattle Run-Ins in Nairobi

I hosted a dinner party last night. It was a fajita feast! For my Kenyan guests, it was the first time they had Mexican food. I was glad to introduce them. Here we are about to dig in:

My classmate, L, is an intern with the US embassy in Nairobi. He came over with a friend. It was the first time we were able to connect in Nairobi! It was fun to have two worlds come together.

I visited the IJM-Kenya office earlier today. The current director is from Seattle and we have a lot of connections in the Seattle attorney world. I did not expect to be standing in the Kenya IJM office and be sharing stories about people we both know! A surprising and very enjoyable experience.

I am going salsa dancing again tonight only this time I am going to pretend I don't really know how to dance when I first arrive! With this strategy, I am hoping I will be asked to dance more. We'll see.......there is a lot of context to the salsa dancing world here that I am just starting to figure out! So far, I think my biggest cultural shock has been salsa dancing. :)
